Elk, perhaps |
Archery Hunting Archery hunting is becoming a popular sport and a great time to be in the wilderness. Early September on the upper Sun River offers just that. To be out in the woods in the early morning when the frost is on the grass, and to hear that beautiful, clear, high pitched bugle of the bull elk as he sends his challenge out to the other bulls in the valley. We have an excellent area, where the elk are present during that time and it is during the rut. Our camp is well located, and we can supply the complete camp. Tents, cots, pads, etc. Ideally, we would supply a man, and just enough stock to pack in an elk. Much of the time, the hunters prefer to supply the food and do their own cooking. This Sun River camp is a 13 mile ride from the ranch, over Route Creek Pass, and the camp along the headwaters of the North Fork of the Sun River. It been a popular spot for the elk to congregate during the rutting season. For a drop camp of this type, we do like to have a minimum of four hunters, at a rate of $2300 per person, or a total of $9000 for the camp for a period of ten days. Hunting licenses in Montana are $1100 for a guaranteed license to hunt elk and mule or white tail deer, and must be applied for by March 1. We cannot sponsor a hunter for a guaranteed license for a drop camp hunt. You must apply for them in the regular draw. Ask us about the guided hunt. |
